Spatial Plannning

Spatial planning is the centre of our activities and we have worked as consultants for about 50 municipalities. When Aalborg Municipality received “The European Urban and Regional Planning Award for the Urban Catalogue” in 1995 Sven Allan Jensen were consultants. We also assisted The Ministry of Environment during the latest revision of the national Planning Law.
At present, we are revising the spatial planning in several municipalities. The maps and the tables containing the planning means and restrictions are presented in GIS.
We have developed a concept for digital spatial planning. The Danish Agency for Trade and Agency supports the pilot project. Together with Carl Bro Engenieers we are developing and implementing the concept in two Danish municipalities.

Retailing data, Ministry of Environment, 1998

We have elaborated the report, »Retail data«, for The Ministry of Energy and Environment, The National Association of Local Authorities, Statistics Denmark and The Ministry of Housing and Building. The report describes how public registers (The Central Business Register, The Building and Dwelling Register etc.) can be applied in regional, municipal and local planning. The methods have formerly been tested on real life data in a municipality, based on a method developed by Sven Allan Jensen.

Urban Renewal, various municipalities 1995–

By using GIS we have used data from the building and Dwelling Register to provide the basis for the planning of urban renewal of several areas.

Retail Analysis, County of Northern Jutland, 1999

In connection with an analysis of retailing in the county of Northern Jutland and The County of Western Sealand we have made a complete GIS-registration of the counties retail shops. The database has been established by combining data from various public and private registers. We subsequently geocoded and validated the data. Analyses of the data were carried out in GIS.

Road Safety Plans, various municipalities, 1996–2000

In connection with elaborating road safety plans in about 80 municipalities, we have carried out the mapping of road accidents in Mapinfo and Arcview.

Analysing experiences

We have undertaken a large number of analyses in the fields of planning, traffic, transport, regional development and environment for the Danish state, counties and municipalities.

We have made an analysis for the Ministry of Energy and Environment on the Danish municipalities‘ practice in the field of spatial planning.

The Retail Committee, Ministry of Environment, 1996

The Minister of Environment established a temporary stop for constructing new shopping centers. A committee was appointed with the task of proposing a new law. We were chosen as consultents and made the analyses that formed the basis of the following new retailing paragraphs in the Planning Law.

Database for the Danish Road Directory, 1998

In connection with the “Local Road Safety Planning Handbook”. The Danish Road Directorate ordered a CD ROM containing easy accessible data of road accidents to be distributed to all Danish municipalities. The database is based on data from the Road Directorates highly detailed Acces database. The task was to give easy access to relevant data to the Danish municipalities by designing a userfriendly interface.
